I was able to go on the Harvard trip my freshman year! This was extremely meaningful to connect with upperclassmen and see role models along with speaking at Harvard! Debate has caused me to continuously feel confident when I have to give presentations or complete interviews. I know I will always succeed because debate set me up for success in public speaking.

I recently graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Biological Sciences and I am going to begin working in a cancer research laboratory at UNC Chapel Hill. I am going to apply to MD/PhD programs next year!

Freshman year I gave an informative speech on Kombucha which won at a few competitions! Every time I drink kombucha I’m reminded of my speech and the laughter I was able to share with people. It taught me to not take life so seriously and that you don’t have to be serious to prove you are smart. In my later years, I judged numerous middle school competitions. I found this to be an enriching experience that helped me learn to coach, judge, and communicate with younger students.

PBHS speech and debate is a wonderful community that introduced me to friends and set me up for success. I am proud to be an alumni!
